The Porsche 987 and 997 deliver one of the most engaging manual driving experiences of their era. The Speedin Engineering Gated Short Shifter System builds on that character with shorter throws, reduced play, and the unmistakable mechanical feel of an exposed stainless steel shift gate.

More than a cosmetic conversion, the system is engineered around a revised short-shifter mechanism with a precision-machined shift lever, upgraded pivot components, and tighter control of lateral and fore-aft movement. The result is a more direct, deliberate shift feel with less of the looseness found in the factory mechanism.

At the center of the system is a brushed stainless steel gated shift plate. Each shift is guided through the exposed gate, adding both a satisfying mechanical action and an OEM+ motorsport aesthetic that feels at home in the 987 and 997 interior.

A conventional M12 threaded shift lever also replaces Porsche’s unusual rectangular knob interface, allowing the system to use a purpose-designed Speedin shift knob while opening up significantly more options for future knob styles.

The system installs using the factory mounting locations and requires no permanent modification to the vehicle. It can be returned to the original configuration if desired.
