Performance Induction System – Porsche 986 Boxster

Developed over more than 8 years, the Speedin Engineering Performance Induction System for the Porsche 986 Boxster is designed to improve intake sound, airflow path, and driving engagement while maintaining clean OEM-style integration.

Constructed from ultra high-temperature carbon fiber–infused polyamide, the system is built for the demanding thermal environment of a mid-engine Porsche and designed to mount cleanly using factory locations.

Tested and Developed Over 8 Years

This system is the result of long-term iterative development, combining 3D scanning, CAD design, CFD analysis, prototype testing, and real-world validation.

Development and testing included:

• Thousands of street miles in real-world conditions
• Driving exposure from snow to heavy rain
• Water-ingress testing
• 600+ miles of track testing
• Continuous refinement of fitment, sealing, airflow path, durability, and drivability

Airflow & Performance

The system is designed to take advantage of the high-speed airflow along the side of the vehicle and guide that air toward the intake path. The internal geometry is shaped to smooth and direct airflow toward the factory throttle body while maintaining clean integration with the surrounding engine bay.

Sound Experience

Under load, the system brings out a more aggressive and visceral flat-six intake howl from directly behind the driver.

At cruising speeds, the car retains an OEM-like cabin experience without unwanted drone. The goal is not to make the car obnoxious, it is to bring out more of the mechanical character that already makes the 986 special.
